Parkland Rules

 

Considering that millions of people use South Bank every year, there are just a few rules in place to ensure it is a safe and healthy place to visit. Please consider others in your enjoyment of the area.

Dogs

 

South Bank Parklands is now a dog friendly place.

Doggy Rules:

  • Must be on a leash not more than 2 metres at all times
  • Not permitted on a beach, in fountains, shower areas or waterways
  • Not permitted in any eating areas within the Parklands
  • Must be well behaved
  • Must abide by the Brisbane City Council's Animal Local Law 2003
  • Dangerous dogs / breeds are not permitted in the Parklands

Carer Rules:

  • Must be with your dog at all times
  • Must ensure that your dog is not a nuisance - you may be asked to remove your doggy from the Parklands
  • Must clean up your doggy doo immediately and place in designated doggy bins
  • Report any incidences to the Visitor Information Centre

Smoking

 

Queensland laws about smoking in public areas means that no smoking is permitted at Streets Beach or within 10 metres of any of the children’s playgrounds.

Alcohol

 

Consumption of alcohol in licensed premises is allowed during the hours permitted by the individual businesses permit.
Plus  it is permitted only in signed areas - Riverside Green and Formal Gardens Green between 10am & 8pm with the consumption of a substantial meal. South Bank Corporation may remove this authority at any time. 

Bikes and rollerblades

 

Please ride where signed. Cyclists visiting the Parklands at South Bank are restricted to riding on Clem Jones Promenade at a maximum speed of 15 km p/h.  Cyclists must always give way to pedestrians.
Skateboarding is not allowed.

Some other rules include:

  1. Properly supervise children, particularly around waterways. Please  obey the signage and  directions of the lifeguards.
  2. No littering.
  3. Swimming is only allowed in swimming lagoons.
  4. No fishing or swimming in the river or fountains.
  5. Exercise due consideration for others.
  6. No distribution of leaflets, soliciting, conducting surveys, selling goods, filming, or professional photography without written approval from South Bank Corporation.
  7. South Bank Parklands are closed to visitors from midnight to 5am except for bona-fide patrons of business establishments on site.
